Theadora Jones

Theodora Jones limited edition 100% cotton dresses, tops, skirts and homewares

The label, Theadora Jones, is in homage to Moyra’s mother "Theodora" who inspired her love of fabrics and sewing at a very young age. Theodora was always running up summer dresses for her three daughters, and Moyra quickly learnt the craft. (The image on this page is of a young Moyra, back in Scotland, with her mother’s home-made frocks.)

Today, Moyra scours the globe for interesting fabrics that are suitable for whipping into simple easy-to-wear dresses, tops and skirts. To begin with, these were just the clothes that Moyra liked to wear, but after numerous requests from customers she decided to offer a small range.

Unlike the Essaye label that uses Moyra’s original fabric designs, the Theadora Jones label is made from fabrics curated by Moyra. There might be a beautiful Japanese cotton or a vintage American print that catches Moyra’s eye. They are all-natural fibres, mostly 100% woven cotton.

Simple styles that hero the fabrics

The women’s clothing range is built around a few simple styles that hero the fabrics, like loose-fitting dresses with small sleeves, simple waisted dresses, and the ever-popular Tilly tops that go with shorts, pants and skirts and suit just about any occasion.

Australian-made from imported fabrics

As with all Moyra’s products, the garments are all sewn in Australia by local makers. If you’re passing the Catherine St Leichhardt studio you might even see Moyra at the machine.

Buy online or in the Studio Shop Leichhardt NSW

Theodora Jones dresses, skirts and tops are offered online or in the Studio Shop that opens on Fridays and Saturdays. Theodora Jones products are all limited edition; Moyra buys a length of fabric and when it’s gone its gone. There’s always something fresh to find in the Theodora Jones range, but if you like something you better be quick.

In addition to the Theadora Jones women’s clothing, Moyra offers a limited range of Theadora Jones homewares including gorgeous cushions, and pretty and practical draft snakes and doorstops. You’ll even find some funky totes – you’ll never say yes to plastic bags again.
